Professor Phil Begg
Chair
Professor Philip Begg, has been a clinician for over 40 years with his main research interest in Cochlear Implants. He started one of the first PA programmes in the UK in 2004 and has worked internationally on PA development since 2006. Prof Begg is the programme Director at Aston University in Birmingham. He is a Founder and past President of the International Academy of PA Educators.
Professor Jeannie Watkins
PASC Past Chair
Jeannie Watkins is Professor and programme director on the Masters in Physician Associate Studies programme at Swansea University. She is a qualified Physician Associate and has been involved in PA education since 2009. She is a past Chair of the Physician Associate Schools Council and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Mrs Emma McAllister
PASC Secretary
Emma McAllister is the Programme Director for MSc in Physician Associate Studies at Newcastle University. Previously a Nurse Practitioner she became involved in medical education in 2010 on the Newcastle MBBS course and became involved in the PA programme in 2016 becoming programme director in 2019. She is the PASC Secretary and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
Kate Bascombe
PASC Treasurer
Kate Bascombe qualified as a Physician Associate in 2011 from St George’s University of London. She has worked across medical and surgical specialties in secondary care as well as General Practice. Kate started her academic career in 2014 as a Teaching Fellow and is now Course Director of the PA MSc at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
Sarah
PASC Administrator
Sarah works as PASC administrator, providing support to the Executive team and PASC sub-committee groups. She is skilled in all aspects of administration, with experience working with (and for) senior level executives and team members, across a range of sectors.
